Charity and Community
At Central Scanning, we like to support a number of Charities and local organisations when we can.
Below is a list of the areas where we have either donated financially and/or provided some of our time to help:
Dodford Childrens Farm
Based local to Scanning, Dodford Children’s Farm works with schools, social workers, health visitors and other referral agencies, to give children from deprived areas that much needed break and a ‘breath of fresh air’ . With so many children still living in poverty, we can offer them a much needed break from the norm at a very low cost.
They also welcome other groups not considered as ‘deprived’ if we have the availability, as regular funds coming in help to sustain the farm to enable us to continue our valuable work.
We have donated to the Childrens Farm for several years and provided hampers, prizes for raffles etc.
Cancer Research
Steve, one of our employees, is a motorcycle fanatic and he did a motorcycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats on a bike that had to be sourced for less than £1000.00. In doing so, he was raising money for Cancer Research, and Central Scanning doubled the donation at the end.
Blue Cross Animal Rehoming Centre
A local animal rehoming centre. The Blue Cross help people find homes for a variety of pets and are very active in our local community. They provide great support to people through a variety of reasons have to rehome a pet and help find a new family to match the pet to the correct family. We donate financially to the Blue Cross.
Droitwich Youth Trials Club – DYTC
DYTC by MK Off Road, is a family run trials motorcycle club run for kids between the age of 4-18 years old. They set out events to encourage kids to compete initially at a very entry level and then progress as they feel comfortable. It is a great way for the kids to be outside, normally in a wooded area meeting lots of friends, starting off a sport that they can continue throughout their lives.
People trial often in their 80’s, health permitting, and this is the start of the journey. The motorbikes are generally electric until the age of about 14 and then they can progress to petrol powered bikes. The UK is very strong within the Trials world and we have had world champions for several years, both male and female.
One of the really nice thing with the sport is that there are lots of girls and boys involved, on an equal level. We sponsor the DYTC Trials Club.
SSSC Ladies Football Team
We have been sponsors of the team since it started about 6 years ago. The girls in the team have progress from newbies to winning the league, playing teams generally one or two years above their age. They are currently playing under 18’s and we will be sponsoring their shirts again this year when the season commences.
It’s been fantastic to watch the games and see how the girls all get on and support each other. They even have one of the Lionesses who lives locally come down to see them and have a sandwich after the game which is great to see and very inspiring for the complete team and parents! We sponsor by proving kit each year.
Dementia (The RADical Rogues Rally)
Organised by James Worthington, MD of MyWorkwear, Telford. This is an event where a group of local company owners get together and organise a drive to Scotland in 2022 or Wales this year, all in aid of Dementia Research. John Race, Paint Facility & Technical Lead at Charge Cars, Phil Stanley, the visionary Owner of TWP Group, Steve Wood, Castings Operations Director at Bridge Aluminium Ltd, Simon Hanson, MD of HCM Engineering who tragically lost his father to dementia, and Tony Sartorius, the MD of Alucast all take part in their Sportscars. They have a great time, meeting lots of people along the way and collect for the charity wherever possible with the donations being very well received by the charities, We support by a donation to the charity via the Radical Rogues Rally.
Scouts – Scott Explorer Belt Expedition Award 2022
Gina our Office and Events Manager’s son Luke undertook a challenge of a lifetime on a scouting expedition to France. To gain this award, it required a group of Explorers to travel abroad for 10 days and conduct a set of projects through which they investigated the history, geography, and society of a foreign country. They were tasked with raising funds for the trip and Central Scanning were pleased to be able to support the Scouts and Luke financially on their trip which was very successful.
Catshill Middle School
We provided an afternoon workshop at Catshill Middle school for a few weeks.
The aim was to introduce the children to engineering using 3D Printing and 3D Scanning Technology at a basic level. The kids engaged well and hopefully, we would have inspired one or two of them to consider a ‘cool job’ in engineering when they get older.
Work Experience and College Presentations
Over the years, we have provided numerous work experience opportunities to school kids and college students.
This is a great way to show what happens in the real world to encourage them to pursue a career in engineering. Working with Next Gen makers, we have been to several colleges and have presented to them, again to show them 3D Printing and 3D Scanning and to discuss pathways into engineering such as Apprenticeships which we are advocates of and how our MD Nick, started out his career.
