Demonstration FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What will you demonstrate to me?
Once we have discussed the requirement you potentially have for 3D scanning and have identified the best scanner we have for your application (if we have one), we will give you some investment ranges for the solution you require, if accepted we can proceed with a demo.
Where does a demo happen?
We provide several options and often encourage an initial online demo to show you the equipment and discuss the application in more detail. If there is a ‘fit’ between your requirement and our potential solution, we will arrange a demo either at your facility or ours in Bromsgrove, Birmingham.
If the solution could be various scanners OR it is not 100% clear which is the best, we would encourage you to visit us so that we can show you the different types of scanners and discuss their strengths and weaknesses.
We have sold just from an online demo before but a ‘face to face’ meeting is preferable to really get to understand your requirement and to really get to the bottom of ‘is scanning right for your application’ as we always want to make sure that you get the most from your scanner if purchased.
What does a demo entail?
We normally asked for any CAD data that you have in advance to prepare a bespoke report / sample for you. At the demo, our engineers will go through the system and how it works (without going into too much detail unless you want it!) and then will proceed to scan a part we have as a sample. We like to use that to demonstrate the workflow and then proceed to scan a part for you so that you see the real capability on your parts.
Do I need a demo, or can I just order / buy online as my mate has one?
If you have used one of the scanners we sell before and are confident in its use, in theory yes. That said we really value the meeting we have and discussions around your application and being able to provide you a proper demo and then a tailored quote. Yes, you may have used one before but what version of software did it have, did someone show you all the latest features etc…
How many people can attend a demo?
We recommend up to 6 people. We like to have engineers who will ask all the technical and difficult questions and any stakeholders involved in the procurement process so that we can discuss some of the financial benefits of 3D scanning for inspection / reverse engineering.
What should I bring to the demo?
Yourself, an open mind and if you have any parts for us to look at with regards feasibility for scanning. Also, any colleagues that would be involved in using or the acquisition of the scanner.
What will I get from the demo?
An introduction to the technology and system. At the end of the demo, we can send you a copy of the scan data and if required an example inspection report/CAD model (please see below).
What will I not get from the demo?
A demo is not a ‘free of charge service job’ and hence our engineers will take a judgement on how many items are scanned and what data is provided after the demo. If you want a service job as part of the demo, please speak to our engineers and we can agree a cost for the service job.
Is the data collected during the demo confidential between Central Scanning and my company?
Absolutely. We work a lot under NDA and hence the data will be kept between us. During the demo, our engineer may ask if OK to take a photo and it would be entirely up to you to agree to that or not. We are always on the lookout for nice images when out and about and hence the question, but rest assured nothing would be used without your approval.
