Shindaiwa – Product Visualisation with 3D scanning
Shindaiwa approached Central Scanning in July 2020 with the idea to 3D scan their existing products so it can be used to sell and market their range of safety lights. Given the pandemic situation, there was an emphasis on improving their tools for online promotion. Specifically they required 3D scans to be used in videos, PowerPoint Presentations and as a rotatable model on their website.
The Artec Leo paired with Artec Studio were the ideal tools for the job.
The portability of the scanner made it ideal to quickly move around the safety lights and accessories we were tasked to capture. After some careful and meticulous editing of the textures and expertise in mesh editing and optimization by the engineers at Central Scanning – we got some great results. See some of the results below when implemented on their various media platforms.
The very same models, were also useable in PowerPoint for presenting to corporate clients.
So for our next item we scanned one of the range of welder-generators. This presented specific challenges such as shiny surfaces, getting underneath the object and removing some of the reflections and glare – but this was handled well with the advanced tools available to Artec Studio.
Again after some perseverance, we got some amazing results in the final 3D models.
Longer term, we hope the initial uptick in sales continues to eventually make the case to 3D scan more of Shindaiwa’s products a possibility.
